The 'Richmond' pattern was originally registered in Canada in 1938, its bold daffodil and narcissus design on a fresh green ground making it one of the most distinctive and immediately recognisable of all Royal Winton chintzes. Demand for Royal Winton chintz never truly subsided, and in 1995 the factory undertook a formal revival of its most beloved patterns — 'Richmond' among them — reissuing them to the same exacting standard as the originals, including the iconic round backstamp. These 1995 pieces are clearly dated on the base, making them fully transparent as reissues rather than period originals, and they are now themselves collectible as part of the chintz revival story. The cup interior is plain cream-white.
