The effect is airy and unforced, the roses appearing in loose groupings rather than formal arrangements, as though gathered rather than placed. The body is of the classic full-bellied Royal Albert form, rising from a shaped foot with gilt ring to a generously rounded shoulder. The spout is long and curved, with a gilt rim at the tip. The handle is the scrolled Royal Albert form, white with gilt detail at the upper terminal. The domed lid is decorated with the Cottage Garden rose arrangement and carries a ribbed acorn knop in white with a gilt ring at its base. The rose clusters appear in three positions around the body, with smaller trailing sprays filling the spaces between, and the lid carries a further arrangement. The shaped foot ring, the scalloped rim of the lid well and the upper rim of the body are all gilt.
