Noritake was established in 1904 in Nagoya, Japan, and grew to become one of the most recognised names in fine tableware worldwide. The "Legendary by Noritake" range, produced in Sri Lanka, represents the company's mid-to-late twentieth century expansion into international manufacturing while maintaining the design standards associated with the parent brand. The Secret Love pattern, registered as pattern number 3481, is characteristic of the restrained aesthetic that defined much of Noritake's output during this period — a considered departure from the heavily decorated styles of earlier decades, aimed at a market that preferred quiet elegance over surface abundance.

The Secret Love pattern is applied as a continuous border around each piece, comprising clusters of soft terracotta and dusty blue flowers with pale foliage, rendered in a deliberately muted palette that sits close to the white ground. A fine Greek key motif in pale grey runs immediately below the gilt rim, providing a geometric counterpoint to the organic flow of the floral spray. The flowers themselves — a loose, airy arrangement of open blooms and trailing buds — are drawn with the light touch that distinguishes transfer decoration of this quality from more mechanical reproduction. The cup is of a gently flared conical form on a footed base; the saucer and side plate share the same scallop-free circular profile with a clean gilt edge.

All ten trios are in near-mint condition. There are no chips, cracks, or crazing on any piece across the set. The gilding is intact throughout, with no visible wear.
