A well-proportioned cylindrical napkin ring, the exterior featuring a wide central panel with a fine brushed satin finish, framed top and bottom by a crisp engine-turned milled border — a neat decorative detail that adds both visual interest and tactile quality without overstatement. The name Elizabeth is engraved to the central panel in a flowing, confident cursive script, well-executed and fully legible. To the interior rim, the date 22·2·53 is engraved in small neat numerals, separated by raised dots — an elegant, period-appropriate presentation. The three South African hallmarks are struck to the exterior lower register, clearly visible and sharp. The silver presents with a bright, lightly polished surface and the milled borders retain excellent definition. At 22 grams it sits with pleasing solidity in the hand.

Condition
Very good to excellent. The engraving to both exterior and interior is crisp and fully legible. The hallmarks are sharp and clearly readable. The milled borders are well-defined with no flattening or wear. There is very light surface wear to the central panel consistent with age and gentle use — entirely in keeping with a 70-year-old piece of silver. No dents, no repairs, no solder lines, no splits. A gentle polish would bring it up to a high shine, though the current presentation is already appealing. Nothing to disclose.
