Decorative lidded jars of this type — combining a saturated coloured ground with lustre ornament and framed floral panels — were produced across several European potteries and for the export market during the mid-twentieth century. The pairing of a vivid turquoise ground with silver lustre and gilt framing reflects a decorative language aimed at visual impact: objects intended not for quiet use, but for display within the interior.

Each jar is of broad ovoid form, rising to a short cylindrical neck and fitted with a flat disc lid. The body is finished in a rich turquoise glaze with a finely textured surface, scattered throughout with silver lustre rose and foliate motifs — open blooms, buds, and sprigs distributed freely across the ground. To each principal face, a large oval medallion is set within a wide engraved gilt border: the panel carries a composed rose study in polychrome, centred on crimson and yellow blooms with supporting lilac and pink flowers, arranged against a pale ground with naturalistic shading.

Engraved gilt bands define the lower body and lid rim, bringing structure to the otherwise fluid decorative scheme. The lids repeat the turquoise ground and silver lustre ornament and sit cleanly and flush to each body. The pair presents as near-matched, with only minimal variation consistent with hand-finished decorative work.

There are no chips, cracks, or repairs to either jar or lid. The turquoise ground is even across both pieces. The gilding remains intact. Both jars are in excellent condition.
