A milk jug is made for use, not attention — which is why it so often outlasts it.

Royal Albert was established at the Albert Works in Longton, Staffordshire, and became one of England’s most widely recognised bone china producers. The Old English Rose pattern remains one of its most enduring designs, defined by dense rose garlands in soft pink and deep crimson with green foliage on a white ground. The brushed gilt detailing is characteristic of mid-century production, applied to accentuate the scalloped forms typical of the range. The green crown backstamp marked “Royal Albert Bone China England” places production within the c.1927–1960 period.

This milk jug is formed on a raised circular foot with a gently scalloped rim, a full rounded body, and a scrolled handle with a defined pouring lip. The exterior carries the Old English Rose garland in full, with alternating deep crimson and soft pink rose heads set among green foliage on a white ground. Brushed gilt highlights the rim, handle, and two fine bands at the foot. The interior is plain white.

The jug is in very good condition. The gilt remains intact throughout with no noticeable wear. There is a small chip with associated material loss to the outer edge of the foot rim. This is minor and does not affect display or function, though it is noted for accuracy. No cracks or crazing are present.
