‘Stephanie’ was modelled by Peggy Davies for Royal Doulton’s range of lady figures. HN 2811 is the red colourway, in production from 1983 to 1994.
The figure shows a young woman in a deep ruby gown with a low square neckline and fitted bodice, painted all over with small stylised floral motifs in soft pink and peach tones and fine green dots. The close-fitting sleeves end in wide white ruffled cuffs, flushed with pink at the edges. She holds her skirt out with both hands, so that it swings to show the white petticoat beneath and the toe of a red shoe. Her dark brown hair is drawn up into a high bun bound with a pink ribbon, and she turns her head to look down over one shoulder.

‘Stephanie’ belongs to Peggy Davies’s later work for Royal Doulton. The red HN 2811 version follows the earlier yellow HN 2807, offering a different interpretation of the same figure. The patterned gown, generous ruffled cuffs and carefully arranged folds of the skirt reflect Davies’s attention to costume and movement.
