Sterling Silver Serviette Ring | Sheffield | 1910–11 | Maker’s Mark GGR
A serviette ring once marked a regular place at the table: one person’s napkin, kept apart from the rest.
Serviette rings became familiar features of nineteenth-century dining tables, identifying individual napkins in households where they might be used more than once between laundering. This ring was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1910–11, early in the reign of George V.
The ring is a plain cylindrical band with straight sides, edged at the top and bottom with applied borders of stylised leaves. It carries no monogram or inscription. The band is fully hallmarked with the maker’s mark GGR, the Sheffield crown, the lion passant and the black-letter date letter s for 1910–11.
Excellent condition, with no dents or other issues.
