Sterling Silver Serviette Ring | Monogrammed ‘AR’ | 30 g
Two initials were enough to tell a household whose place this was at the table.
Plain cylindrical serviette rings left a smooth surface for personal engraving. Names and initials were common choices, marking a simple piece of silver as one person’s own.
The ring is a plain cylinder with straight sides and no borders. The front is engraved with the initials “AR” in an ornate script monogram. The rim carries an overlapping circular STERLING SILVER stamp, apparently struck twice. A small character, possibly H or I, has also been scratched into the interior.
Very good condition, with visible fine surface scratches across the silver, consistent with use.

Collector Appeal
The simple cylindrical form places the ornate AR monogram at the centre of the design. Weighing 30 g, the ring has a substantial presence despite its modest size. The engraved initials offer a personal connection for someone who shares them, and the restrained form suits collectors of traditional table silver.
Initials outlast the moment they were chosen; these still wait for someone to answer to them.
