Handcrafted Copper & Brass Men’s Wide Cuff Bangle | Three Malachite Cabochons | Sedgefield, Garden Route

Copper, set with the stone that copper makes.

This cuff was made within the last five years by a local craftsperson in Sedgefield, on the Garden Route, for The Dancing Faun Antiques. The malachite was chosen and supplied by The Dancing Faun Antiques and set by the maker. Malachite is a copper mineral that commonly forms as copper-bearing deposits weather, often developing bands of light and dark green.

The cuff is wide and open at the back. Plain brass rails run along each edge, with twisted brass strands and rippled copper strips layered between them. Brass collars hold the strands together at intervals. At the front, an oval malachite cabochon sits in a brass bezel, with a smaller malachite cabochon on either side. The ends finish in flat brass caps.

Excellent condition. Made for The Dancing Faun Antiques and never worn.

Collector Appeal

A one-off made in Sedgefield for The Dancing Faun Antiques. With a band 2.8 cm wide, it is the broadest of the Sedgefield cuffs in the shop. Layers of plain, twisted and rippled metal give the construction its texture, and the banded green of the malachite sits naturally against the copper it shares its origins with.

Malachite grows one band at a time; handwork is built the same way.
