Three pieces that have clearly never been used — the gilding on the cake plate border alone places this in a different category from most surviving Dimity Rose.

Dimity Rose was registered by Royal Albert Ltd in 1969 and remained in production through the 1970s. It belongs to the same family of rose-garland patterns that defined Royal Albert's commercial peak, but distinguishes itself through the unusual weight of its gold border treatment — a dense, all-over foliate and rose-scroll frieze that runs the full width of the rim, rather than the restrained gold line edging found on many contemporaries. The pattern name references dimity, a lightweight cotton weave associated with English country interiors, and the decoration reflects that pastoral register: loosely gathered sprays of pink roses in soft, slightly muted tones rather than the high-contrast colouring of later productions. The 1969 copyright date places this firmly in the first issue.

The cake plate is the handled presentation form with a broad, gently dished well and a scalloped rim carrying the full gilded rose-and-foliage border. The handles are swept and gilded at the tips. The rose garland swings in a continuous arc around the well. The milk jug is the larger pouring form — baluster-shaped body with a pronounced waist, swept scroll handle with gilt tip, and the same dense gold frieze running inside and outside the wide scalloped lip. The open sugar bowl is the footed, waisted form with a flared rim, carrying the garland around the body and the gold frieze at the rim. All three pieces share an identical decorative scheme and are clearly from the same production run.

All three pieces are in mint, unused condition. No chips, cracks, crazing, or scratches to the glaze on any piece. Gilding is complete and bright throughout — no loss, no rubbing, no dulling — on the cake plate rim, both sides of the milk jug lip, the sugar bowl rim, and all gilded foot rims. The interior of the milk jug shows the gold frieze at full intensity.
